Unleash Your Creative Power

Have you ever been called wildly creative by some and rigidly logical by others?

I’ve been there, and it left me wondering: Can one person embody both a free-spirited innovator and a methodical problem-solver? Are these traits at odds, or do they fuel each other? Most importantly, is creativity an innate gift we all share—and if we’ve lost touch with it, can we reclaim it?

Creativity: A Universal Spark

Creativity just for artists or “geniuses.” ? That’s a myth! It’s a universal human trait, hardwired into us all. In The Creative Ambush, Matteo di Pascale argues that creativity thrives when we step outside our comfort zones, using “ambushes”—unexpected jolts to spark intuitive action. Dr. George Land’s 2011 TEDx talk supports this, showing that young children are naturally divergent thinkers, but rigid systems like traditional education often suppress this instinct. The good news? We can unlearn these blocks.

Maria Brito, in How Creativity Rules the World, adds that crises—tight deadlines, limited resources, or personal challenges—ignite creativity by forcing us to innovate. Arthur Koestler’s The Act of Creation ties it together, describing creativity as a process of connecting unrelated ideas, accessible to everyone. Whether you’re a dreamer or a planner, your brain is built for this.

The Luxembourg Lesson

On June 28, 2025, 25,000 people flooded Luxembourg’s streets, passionately defending social protections against proposed changes like longer working hours (and years). Their energy was electric, but clung to outdated solutions. What if, instead of protest signs, they channeled that passion into creative problem-solving? As the above mentioned authors suggest, true change starts within—by taking responsibility for our own solutions, we can turn obstacles into opportunities.

Reclaim Your Creativity: The "starter" Exercise

Ready to tap into your creative power? Then I invite you to try this warm-up exercise that happens at each of my “creativity workshops”.

This exercise makes your creative potential tangible, proving you’ve been innovative all along. It’s about stepping outside your comfort zone and acting on intuition, as Di Pascale advocates.

A Call to Action

Our economy needs you—passionate innovators who forge solutions in turbulent times. Break free from the “hamster wheel” of routine. Channel the energy of Luxembourg’s streets into creating something meaningful. Your creativity can reshape your world, whether you’re navigating a personal crisis or innovating at work.

What’s one challenge you’ll tackle creatively today? Share your story—I’d love to hear it! As my Granda said, “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
